Jesus first called them hypocrites, and then asked one of them to produce a Roman coin that would be suitable for paying Caesar's tax. One of them showed him a Roman coin, and he asked them whose head and inscription were on it. They answered, "Caesar's," and he responded: "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's". The questioners were impressed. Matthew 22:22
Respectfully, in response to your post, it seems reasonable because of human nature being what it is that those questioning Jesus didn't like the answer He gave them about Caesar (government). They had the audacity to insist Jesus conform to their way of thinking about it. Imagine that; the Creator of the universe is expected to conform His way of thinking to the ways of man, instead of the other way around.
I agree, but in the meantime I replay that verse in my head multiple times a day in order to put food on the table.
