As a systems administrator and network engineer of 20 years. I concur. Unfortunately it's getting more expensive to do this.

I crunched some numbers in a financial model, and AWS was between 3 and 4 times more expensive than an equivalent collocation - not even counting amortization schedules. Azure is even more expensive. The cloud vendors are getting 70% gross margins from the morons that use their services...

Companies pay a lot more and get a lot less in return - brilliant !!!
