The last time I saw the route where this plane goes over every major city in CA was the day the Swallowell Bang Fang news came out.
Today's U2 is far different than Gary Power's ride in the Cold War when he was basically just taking pictures.
The U2 of today can still do that but also gather signals intelligence, think gathering all data going through cell phone towers.
In addition, the U2 can act as a battle space command center. It flies twice as high as fighter planes. From its perch high above it can scan the air space below to determine friendly and enemy aircraft and coordinate out of sight missile strikes and coordinate strategic approaches for the battle down below.
I suspect that when the U2 is flying over all of the major cites in Commiefornia, they are gathering signals intelligence on the Chicoms down below. The state has gone full commie. Can't believe they don't have a red flag by now.

The U2 is also the first US plane to fly with an "R2-D2" AI co-pilot. ARTU flew for the first time in December 2020. https://asiatimes.com/2020/12/air-force-u-2-flies-mission-with-r2-d2-like-ai-copilot/
