Back before the E-6A, TACAMO flew the EC-130Q and both VQ-3 and VQ-4 maintained at least one aircraft airborne 24/7 for many years. So when one was coming in and one going out to replace it on station, there were 4 total airborne not including any pilot training with the other aircraft.

Not important...just history.
