Buy a good chunk of silver, not just 4oz, of any amount that you feel comfortable holding. 4oz or 40oz or a 500oz monster box, and anything in-between.
Totally agree. I’m curious about stocks though. I’m currently invested pretty heavily in gold and silver (real assets and I bought them before it was trending thank you very much!) i’m wondering if the dollar completely loses its value then what happens to our money when we’re invested in real assets?
Honestly I’m wondering if it’s a better idea to literally just buy physical goods rather than gold or silver. Like a generator and gasoline. We already have that honestly but you get my drift
At some point you've got to realise that money, especially sound money, is just a vehicle for storing and transferring physical energy across time and space. It's one of mankind's greatest inventions.
Sound money conserves that energy extremely well. Fiat money just leaks that energy into entropy by every second.
It's up to you to decide when to convert that wealth into physical goods and services.
It’s so difficult to tell though because having it fluid means that when everything drops (a stock market crash) if you invest in companies then, then you will have the ability to create more wealth and sustainability for your family.. I just can’t wrap my head around what happens if the dollar becomes valueless.. what will our new currency be? Will it remain the US dollar but we destroy billions of physical dollars or does the value of the dollar dramatically decrease to the proportion of gold that we have as a nation? Or does it become literally worthless?
This is my crude theory on how it could work,
Remember how Trump signed the order that all human traffickers and treasonists and terrorists could have their assets frozen?
Well only a small fraction of cash exists in the world (bills and coins of all countries) something like 11 trillion out of like 40 trillion and the rest is digital, there is another quadrillion or so of investment products like stocks, bonds and cryptocurrency.
The vast, vast majority may be subject to seizure, but what if instead of seizing it, they just pressed delete and erased those 1's and 0's and then sold off the investments and cryptos that they could after they mark-to-market and erase the proceeds from that as well.
If you erase enough so that it leaves enough dollars in circulation to match the need at that time to represent the supply of metal or whatever asset (might be GDP backed as well as metal backed) you are using to support the currency. Then you can allow people to trade in their legally obtained dollars 1:1 for whatever the new money will be.
Imagine all the current cash being held by kingpins all over the world that would be worthless when we change our money. We'll say you can exchange certain amounts but not large cash amounts. All that cash in Walter Whites storage unit would become monopoly money. Now what about legal cannabis companies that really because of federal law cant bank on a regular. Strange times ahead
