What you're saying is that you trust others so little, that you do not even trust them when they tell you even basic things unless you can prove it for yourself. Would you believe it if you could fly high enough to see the Earth's curvature yourself, or would you just say they were giving you a faked view through the window? At some point, you have to vet some people, then put a little faith in what they show and tell, because you cannot re-do all relevant research yourself.
