Is it possible to keep the personal bond with God strong whilst recognizing that the Catholic church hierarchy is corrupt?
I am good friends with a lot of people at a local Catholic church and I'm thinking ahead about how to talk to them if the Vatican is disgraced. I'm not Christian as such.
I don't care if even the Pope and all the cardinals are corrupt, satanist, pedos -- I'm still gonna stay Catholic. Jesus made the Church, and he said it will last for all time. It is up to us to make sure it doesn't become a crock of shit.
Part of the problem with the Catholic Church is that instead of fighting the corruption, all the people with a backbone to call out the bullshit left to form their own churches. If they had stayed and fought, the Church would never have become so soiled. It's the same with any governing body.
Things get corrupt when all the good people stop fighting for it.
This is what I've been saying to all my Catholic friends and family. We have a duty to make sure the apostolic succession is not tarnished by the filth of the world, and we've all been doing a piss-poor job of it. I do my part by teaching Religious Education and making sure the kids don't abandon Jesus for the lies of the world. I'm not gonna lie to them. If that means I have to tell them the Pope is corrupt, so be it.
I don't agree that Jesus created the Church. Remember, He said that the Temple will be raised up the third day. Who rosed up the third day after death?
Before the Bible was written and the Apostles did their thing in the world, there had to be some structure with a leader to keep everyone together. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to replace Judas as the 12th Apostle.
I am open to the idea that Apostolic Succession diverted at some point and the current Church lacks it, but I highly doubt that.
There is a chain of authority leading back to Jesus through the appointments of priests. I just pray more of those priests are good guys rather than bad.
I've been worrying about you Catholics.

I hope not to offend with this question

Nah, he founded a Church.

Show me where it says he founded a Church. Where did it say that Jesus appointed priests?
