Not authored by me but fact checked and WORTH reading to prove his use of the C-32 yesterday was ON purpose and nothing to do with runway length or the 'REAL' AF1's lack of functionality (remember, AF1 is not a specific aircraft but rather the call sign for the aircraft that the POTUS is on)
The MSM say that Joe Biden had to use that Boeing 757-200 (C-32) because the airport they were going to land at wasn't big enough for a Boeing 747. This is, to put it bluntly, Fake News.
The plane landed at Delaware's New Castle Air National Guard Base. Home to the 166th Airlift Wing. They have 3 runways with lengths of 4602 ft, 7012 ft, and 7275 ft. A VC-25 can use a runway as short as 5000 ft safely and AF1 has done so routinely during previous admin trips. So, that dog won't hunt. Others have wondered, "Was Air Force One simply in for repairs, or being redecorated, so Joe Biden couldn't use it?"
That would work except there are two VC-25a Air Force Ones; says so right on the Whitehouse website. Also, the Air Force rules dictate that one of these aircraft is fully operational (flight ready) at all times. In addition, there are other aircraft available to the President of the US, not the least of which is Marine One which is certainly capable of reaching that NG base.
Some have pointed out that the length of a runway is not the only consideration when it comes to a particular aircraft's runway requirements. I agree. However, I think that the fact that President Barack Obama was aboard AF1 when it landed at the New Castle Air National Guard Base on July 17, 2014 can be used as pretty imperical evidence that AF1 has no problem touching down or taking off from New Castle Air National Guard Base.
They are saying AF1 is a designation not the plane.
That's the excuse I am hearing.
