Have supplies and don't tell anyone you have supplies. Be prepared for disruptions in supplies chains and/or restrictions on your ability to freely engage in commerce. 6 months food, 1 month water and basic necessities to not leave your home for the first month of a crisis is just common sense.
I was deeply impacted by the images from Hurricane Katrina, where people were forced to get on that government bus and go to the arena. Once you checked in, you were their guest until they decided to let you out. Inside the arena was a living hell. They let the gangs run the place, supplies were bad, facilities were bad and everything was humiliating.
Having the basic supplies to get through the most intense part of whatever craziness might come allows you to operating strategically and not out of fear. You won't be one of those pathetic losers fighting over the last super-pack of TP or the last boxes of dry cereal.
Please, be prepared.
I am prepared but I also know God will take care of us. Good point about the arena, I will never ever leave my care in control of the government.
