There are only 18.6 million bitcoins in existence, with a max total of 21 million once they are all mined. You can only give everyone a fraction of one, but then again, it's like saying 'give everyone on the planet an ounce of gold'. Who are those ounces going to come from? People already own the existing bitcoins.
