You feel very passionate about your convictions and I admire that. I think we disagree on this issue, but I welcome discussion. Agree to disagree.
I was raised a Catholic and that is what turned me away from Christianity for a while - the corruption, the scandals, the idolizing a man as the link to God as if he were a pharaoh, when the text itself says that we all have a connection to god who is ever-present.
It took me years to come back around, though in a looser sense. I don't go to church or connect with anyone on the matter, but I do have the belief and faith, and I'm always astonished as to how much of the Bible applies to today's world.
Thank you and God Bless you! We are all going to disagree from time to time and that doesn't make me or you lesser of a person! I'm sorry to hear that about your youth. I feel that would have had a negative effect on me as well. I don't knock Catholics but from my understanding of the bible when Jesus came and died for our sins, priests were no longer needed for that connection to The Father as you said. You should not worry about your church attendance as this verse comes to mind- “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. matthew 6: 5-6. The intimate relationship with The Father, His Son is the most important thing. I hope The Father brings you and your family many blessings!
Thank you! I make a conscious effort to pray to thank God for my blessings, rather than just asking for things. When all seems lost, sometimes we forget the good. The near-miss car accidents, the fact that family and friends still with us are still alive.
I always feel bad when someone dies everyone has regret for not doing more, or interacting more, or anything like that. Sometimes I close my eyes and imagine a terrible thing, only to come back to myself and realize that could have been reality but it's not. And that reminds me of the blessings that God gives us that we often don't think about.
I think of it like people complaining about getting a traffic ticket. How many cops watched you speed that you didn't see, but they let it go? There are powerful forces from all sides that are always at play and we're not always aware of and it manifests in every level of life. From the intimate life, to societies at large, to the world in and of itself.
Amen! You are so right! We all want that winning lottery ticket right? Family and love, good health is all that matters is you can have all that money you want, But you still can't take it with you.
