The "zombie" fungi of society.
Cordyceps is an invasive parasite that infects a host and twists it to its own needs and benefits, forcing it to act in the way that the fungi desires, until the host is dead. Even then, the fungi often has a use for the carcass.
Eww. Are you a botonist? Don't know too many people who would throw around the word cordyceps. :D
