few realize how slavery and the coca bean are connected.
I know a little about this subject. I've done many deep dives regarding the exploitation of boys. Africa has a lot of problems, but it is surely not alone. As for Africa, this is just a hint of the problem. The fishing industry on the rift lakes is far worse. Also, the fishing industry is for the domestic market. That means that there are not any international concerns that can step in. No one will be suing anyone like these young men who are now suing the big players in the chocolate industry.
I don't think so.
As the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, and Member of the Executive Board of Nestlé SA, the total compensation of Ulf Schneider at Nestlé SA is $10,014,500.
The ivory coast is a shit hole and his been in conflict for decades. All the leaders are corrupted and I am sure they were on the take with the big corps. No surprise
Many Countries involved. Different culture. Obviously these kids are eating better than the other kids who are starving in these countries. Sorry to sound cold, but this has been going on forever and where is the local outrage? Some things need fixed from within a sovereign nation. Shall we have Worldwide Reparations ? This is going on all over the World. Do we need a World Government to fix it? Take from the rich countries, give to the poor? ( Meanwhile Corrupt World Leaders steal 3/4 of the money ) Watch what you wish for.
On the other hand if the World was full of decent honest people from one end to the other I could afford ten dollars for a chocolate bar.
People paid a normal wage can make our chocolate. You don't need to make like 3000% profits by using child labor.
Dirtbag.
