If the virus was naturally created, it is not patentable. However, I can change the DNA or the RNA or whatever, and call it a variant of HIV for a vaccine or any other useful purpose and patent it. These kinds of patents are difficult to understand because they are supposed to teach one of “ordinary skill in the art” how to “make and use the invention”. They are written for others in that field, not average joes. This whole thread is a hopium larp. Sorry but that is just the reality of it. I’ve litigated biotech patents and diagnostic assay patents for many years. I know what I’m talking about.
