Because it wouldn't have helped their case maybe, and also, it was another topic altogether. I think the aim was to show that Trump did not incite an insurrection and they did that brilliantly. I think that it's because they stuck to that precisely that they were so convincing. Going down this path would probably have allowed the Dems to bring out more info, whereas what they did was repeatedly ask "prove me that Trump incited an insurrection", not "prove me that the Capitol was not staged". Just my 2 cents.
Not in a place to research right now but I think it has something to do with the 5th amendment and not being able to use evidence twice. Didn't want to waste it on something they knew the outcome of already. Keep it in your bag of tricks.
