Having friends that do Meteorite hunting and make a decent living doing so... and having gone with them a time or two I cant say it's 100% a meteor but from what Id gather id say it is just a meteor..

I know that lockdowns are happening around the world when there are operations that need to happen. Now we are being told that a meteor exploded over the Melbourne sky (with no debris apparently).
Was this a missile intercepted? Or something else?
This was definitely a meteor. I have seen three that exploded, completely disintegrating, and one that passed overhead and hit about 140 miles from were I was.

It looked like a meteor to me. I once saw one whiz overhead leaving a trail of smoke behind it and hissing the whole time.
Meteor exploding so close to the ground seems very unlikely.
That looks more like a missle. Some kind of cluster bomb missle.

It looks more like one of those warheads that break up into multiple projectiles just before hitting the target.
While I believe it was a meteorite, it does remind me of the first gulf war when the patriot missiles shot down SCUD missiles.
