True democracy is pure rule by the masses. Electoral College was to help deter that since pure democracy is essentially mob rule. House of reps is probobly the closes on this. Even the direct control would be closer.

You were, which is why you have to read questions carefully. House of Reps is the correct answer for the question as stated.
But the House is a representative body, thus making it closest to a representative Republic. I think the fly in this ointment is the use of the word "democracy".... a Frankenstein word that means whatever the Left wants it to mean. I ceased using that word at all when describing America some years ago.

It is the house! I was wrong, but the explanation says the electoral college is seen to contradict the popular vote. ? I thought it was electoral college because it gives small states a voice, but I guess I’m wrong.
The question is about democracy which is pure majority rules. The electoral college is what makes us a democratic republic.

The best answer is b., as it is the only entity that is truly "majority rules" and can actually vote away the rights of the minority.
The electoral college should be applied at the state level also imho in fairness to counties.

It is balanced by the Senate, with 6 year terms, being elected by the State legislatures.
Seems like both answers are correct and according to the left the electoral college is a bad thing. Just based on political optics I got this question wrong.
