I'm not a doctor nor a scientist but given how much technology has advanced, I do believe there is a lot being kept from the public by these companies. Doctors are not inventors though, they merely make use of what is available to them. Scientists are the ones that would invent something or hide the invention because greedy, money, and power is dangerous.
