Sometimes you just can't appreciate the magnitude of things when you see them on the ol' TV. A screen can only get as bright as a screen can get, but when you see it essentially turn daylight into dusk by comparison... you know it's bright.
Kinda of like the first time I was next to a .44 Magnum at the firing range. On screen, all guns go bang. It's very hard to discern a bang from a boom when you're just watching it. That .44 was a BOOM. ?
I still haven't fired any high-power cartridge handguns like .44 magnum and beyond. Maybe if I was concerned about grizzlies in the backcountry, I'd get something like that. But I just haven't heard many first-hand report that these calibers are particularly fun to shoot.
