who on earth believes the Burmese military is doing this to re-establish representative government? It's literally the same group of generals who ran the military dictatorship and fought tooth and nail against the constitution. They're some of the most corrupt people on the planet who've spent decades getting rich off Army-run state-owned enterprises. If anyone's trafficking kids out of Burma it's the Army, not Aung.
Just trying to explain the context. You may be right.
It's just very frustrating to me that so many people here are cheering on the men who not long ago commanded the largest army of child soldiers in the world. How can anyone think the people who abducted tens of thousands of little boys are the guys fighting child traffickers? It sickens me.
We live in a world of infinite useless information. There's almost no way to read the news about Myanmar and be confident you are getting a fair and accurate representation of the truth. For me, the fact that the news is against it makes me more likely to think it's a good thing. But I certainly don't enjoy substituting my own speculative guess work for actual information I could read and trust. If only we lvied in such a world.
Few people know the situation. Here the people appear to be cheering the overturning of a corrupt election. If you have direct knowledge of the situation, this is a good place to share it. People are open to facts, which are much better received than objections without facts, especially if they are investigated and sourced. Previous posts have documented the perceived evils of the other side. This situation may be the lesser of two evils.
