That's because it's OUTSIDE of the South Side of Chicago.

You don't typically report anything that's happening in the South Side because shooting is a normal occurrence. The local news does, but when shooting occurs outside of South Side, it becomes "breaking news".

I went to Ford City mall several times when I was a kid and it was pretty nice there. Don't know if it has diminished since then but I know it's not even in the South Side of Chicago.

South Side back when I was a kid, was still as bad as it is today so my parents as well as my friends' parents wouldn't think of taking me and my friends to a mall in the South Side.
