Trump said a few times that you can lie in the halls of Congress and you are exempt from prosecution. He said it absolutely blew his mind, but that’s the way it is. You can literally say anything, and it doesn’t have to be true at all. Now, in the setting of a trial, that might be different (but I doubt it).
You can like, true, as the protections to Congressional Representatives prevent recourse.
HOWEVER, the exception to this is Treason or any Federal Felony... at which time those protections do NOT apply.
Lying is one thing - falsifying evidence is, however, a FEDERAL FELONY, and congressional protections do NOT protect them.
