I read a list of the top 10 most Evil Organizations in History.
It was surprising that the Catholic Church came in #5. They were behind the Chinese Communist Party, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (under Stalin), the Kmer Rouge and the Nazi Regime obviously, but I wouldn't have ranked the Catholic Church in the top 10 for most evil.
I guess the reason for inclusion of the Catholic Church in that ranking is Deception.
The others made no pretenses and didn't hide what they were. The Church, however, claims to help people and gains their trust, which in a way is far more devious and destructive.
The Catholic Church has "Pagan" style rituals and Holidays. This came about from Constantine who saw a sign from heaven and declared the church to be the official religion of the empire. To appease both pagans and Christians he took rituals and beliefs from both and combined them to make the mess that the church is today. I've seem alot of sin and corruption in the church. At one time I attended a Franciscan seminary. Boy did I get an eyeful and earful. I have been Catholic free for over 60 years. I am not slamming those who belong to this church. I am slamming the organization. There's lots of info on this out there if you look.
