Yeah I used to think their oath was true and honorable, but I'm beginning to believe it's mostly pomp and circumstance. I think they just commit to the system and whomever is supposedly in charge. They'll continue to fight in foreign wars, but they don't want to rock the boat here in our own country. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty disappointed.
It would be a lot more plausible if the entire command structure (generals, joint chiefs, etc.) were not corrupted (which they are). If there was a strong, clear leader for everyone to unite behind, I would find the military scenario much more plausible.
