Tried that. Linux desktop version. Install went OK. Then I tried to use it. They asked for my phone number. So I uninstalled it. They have no need to know that information. No desire to use a product like that.
Buy a $5 burner phone if you care that much... it only uses it for linking to 2FA system instead of an email address. It's really not that big of a deal. It's not a photo ID with personally identifying information like your drivers license (ahem, Parler).
Its called contact tracing. It is a big deal.
It is also probable too late to worry about it, because they can already link and map anyone on the planet with the data they have now.
Adding a new phone and service would just confirm the data they already have on you.
If you think they don't already do this with the phone you carry in your pocket all day long, no matter what apps are on there... then I really don't know what to say about that.
Telegram isn't the problem here... go ahead and throw your phone in the rubbish bin first then... lead the crusade!
I dont care to buy a burner phone. Thats too much effort for a social media platform. It's literally more work than Twitter and I told you that was pleeeeeeenty of bullshit for me. Too much noise to information ratio. Circlejerks all day long. Don't need it.
Storming the beaches at Normandy was too much effort. You're just making excuses. That's fine nobody is forcing you to do anything, but just man up and own that shit instead of pretending like you have to do any real work to achieve it easily and cheaply if you really wanted to. Sounds to me like you just like to complain.

Exactly. I won't use anything that requires phone number or driver's license number.
You do realise it's primarily a messenging app right?
Doesn't change my stance on the matter at all.

For instance even if you don't make a FB page doesn't mean there isn't already one in existence with the info gathered from your friends.
