You know what pisses me off, the poverty those people live in that isn't necessary. I remember driving through reservation territory, in 2007, that went for 100s of miles with no hotels or gas stations. I thought to myself, these people could make a killing if they put up, hotels, motels gas stations and stores every once in while. They'd have good paying jobs for their people and there wouldn't be so much poverty. When I was growing up in the 70s my grandparents used to visit some natives they befriended while on the western travels that lived in a mud hut! They would gather clothes and household items to take to them every year, there were different families they knew. I don't understand living in poverty when there are opportunities not to live that way. I blame the leaders of their tribes for this. Shameful.
Just like America it's the leaders that are ruining it! Also if you leave the rez to get educated and do something is looked down upon by the tribe. Crazy
Your post is shameful. Have you ever thought maybe they don't want to live a life with hotels and gas stations cluttering their habitat? Maybe they don't want to live the modern American way, and that's perfectly fine. America is a giant shopping mall, anyways. We've got enough McDonalds and 7/11s on every corner. Perhaps they do not value the idea of living for a profit the way you do; to think it's shameful to live that way shows your ignorance and greed. I have nothing but respect for them choosing to live a life free from material wealth and creature comforts. They are incredibly nice and wise people.
It's not about greed, it's about giving your people a comfortable and prosperous life. If your people are freezing in huts, you might want to look at tweaking your ways.
This happens on Indian reservations every year. No outrage about it. Sad this can happen in America anywhere!
