According to the story, PLG determined that the timelines are converging down to two possible scenarios between total dystopia and total freedom (Awakening.)

According to what I read, the timeline split disappeared around (I think) 2012 and left only ONE timeline in which the future looks bright. Hence "Nothing can stop.."

Yes, that is the story. It broke down into the one timeline in which the white hats win. I believe it's true, it's just agony watching it play out.
