KJV:
“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
NIV:
Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
The study note for this was great also:
"Fear of people can hamper everything you try to do. In extreme forms, it can make you afraid to leave your home. By contrast, fear of GOD -- respect, reverence & trust--is liberating. Why fear people who can do no eternal harm? Instead, fear GOD who can turn the harm intended by others into good for those who trust Him."
I love the way GOD works! His study note writer could have written that note today or any month within the last year, yet this study note existed in the Bible my Mom gave to me on June 22, 2004. It was just there waiting for me to read it.
Perhaps I'll share some of the others of the seven verses I highlighted in the comments below later as the day goes by.
But for now, I remember on of my conclusions from my search for TRUTH in 2018: "Fear, Worry, and Doubt Are Not From God. The only valid fear is the Fear Of God. Therefore, I am FEARLESS but not Stupid.". I wrote this down after realizing that these three tools (Fear Worry and Doubt) are often part of the tools those working for Satan use. And, mostly they are built from lies and deception.
I have been reading and listening to videos on this subject. This is SPOT ON for me at this moment. Thank you for sharing.
May the light shine upon you and awaken your soul.
Thank you for the blessing.
Thank you. I needed to read this.
Some others of the seven I highlighted from Proverbs 29...
Proverbs 29:2
KJV:
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
NIV:
Proverbs 29:4
KJV:
“The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.”
NIV:
Proverbs 29:11
KJV:
“A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.”
NIV:
I'll stop here for now. Maybe the other three later.
What study guide are you using? I have been looking for something like this.
I'm reading the Study Bible that my Mom gave me. It is called Life Application Study Bible (New International Version Large Print Version..thank goodness for the large print.). Published by Tyndale House Publishers Inc. The study notes are part of this Bible, on each page written below the Bible chapter verses. Also very neat prefaces written for each book, and tables cross referencing other scriptures for topics+maps. Since it is NIV, I like to look up the KJV on internet as I read to compare.
Looks like they have a KJV version also...
