Japan not having a proper military is not really accurate. They have been allowed to rebuild their military for years. I'm pretty sure they started building aircraft carriers years ago.

No surprise it happend on Trump his term. Japan is really anti China and pro Trump ( mainly because of that ). It's actually a very interesting development tons of people missed.
