Are debit and/or credit card use shut down other than my small town in Utah?

My husband went to get lunch and could not use his debit card at several different place. They are only taking cash. I just wanted to see if this is the case else where.

This map doesn’t show my central Utah town on it so I wonder how many others areas are not shown.
