Why doesn't the CDC have a sample of the COVID-19 virus?

A real sample or a picture of a real sample? All I've ever seen on TV and the internet are animated pictures of what the virus is supposed to look like.

When they use the word "images" my skeptical alarm bell goes off. Images could be one of those a computer generated 4D animated drawings. How about they just get us a picture of the damn thing?
