If you listen the whole interview, it is clear that he didn't just mean "Republican Party" which he mentioned at different portions of the interview. There's a reason why he didn't say "control of the Republican party", but only "control of the party". He is clearly hinting about much more control: Control of the white hats. As Trump does, he is not saying it directly, but making it clear for everyone knowing the code.
