Until you start looking at porn as a symptom, instead of a problem, you will never "conquer" it. Same for drugs. Men are designed to respond to women who indicate willingness and availability. Porn displays those traits, and so men respond. Enough exposure, reduces the stimulus effect, causing those engaged to seek more tittilating porn. Nasty spiral.
Sexual excitement suppresses anxiety and with climax comes a sense of bliss. Both are highly desirable to most anyone. Not having a natural outlet for such activity, the ready availability of porn fills the gap for many/most. Even for those who do have a relationship that allows for sexual fulfillment, porn is frequently easier.
What is driving the stress? Can that be addressed systemically?
Interesting signposts on this journey:
From a documentary on the very low birth rate in Japan (applicable elsewhere), the real culprit seems to be a culture that promotes 100 hour work weeks and women in the workforce under similar conditions. Who has time to create a family, much less try and raise one.
From a conversation with a co-worker, while trying to encourage him to marry. "Why buy a cow, when you can get all the milk you want at the market for free?"
From a bumper sticker, "Porn is cheaper than a girlfriend."
Alcohol suppresses anxiety and the buzz can be blissful in its own way. Don't know from personal experience, just through long talks with a daughter who can drink most people under the table. She has a genetic condition that is very painful. Also an anxiety disorder. Self medication of choice is Caffeine and tobacco. tried most other street drugs. Luckily opiates don't work well after very short usage.
Alcohol quiets the anxiety, but the price is extreme. Hours of violent upchucking and more hours of what she calls the bizarros (delirium tremens). Being afraid to sleep for a couple of days following a day of severe food poisoning symptoms will tax anyone's system.
Luckily she's showing signs of progress, but the going is slow.
see. that's exactly my point. everyone has a different life and struggles. there can be someone out there that never watches porn but they are a druggie or alcoholic.

Apply that same logic to alcohol and see where it gets you

Yep. I know too many people that drink like a fish who don’t even blink about it, but never stop kvetching over porn.
