Psychological operations are operations to convey selected information and indicators to audiences to influence their emotions, motives, and objective reasoning, and ultimately the behavior of governments, organizations, groups, and individuals.

This is why I don't believe it is a psyop as that is the definition of it, but I believe it is a deep evil of Satan twisting what God found to be good. Also what has probably happened is these people, the twisted dark evil ones, just saw something to take advantage of that was already evil to further their own agenda.
