Actually, most of the time their reason is "doesn't matter", and they do follow it with "lol". They are brainwashed and suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, so when you challenge their beliefs with facts, or even just questions, they melt down.
I saw a woman walking her dog, by herself, on an empty road, wearing a mask. I was so tempted to ask her why she was wearing a mask, but my wife was with me, and she doesn't like for me to confront people about such things :)
