They should have just done what Microsoft has done with their naming, just pivot after a disastrous version. At first it was build names, Windows 3/3.1 then they went to years 95, 98, 2000 which were all fairly good. Then they came out with Windows ME which was HORRIBLE, so they named the next one instead of date references and we got Windows Vista.
Vista ended up being a big failure so they pivoted backed to build numbers again and called the next one Windows 7. After 7 came Windows 8/8.1's which was also terrible so Microsoft again pivoted, this time by skipping a number and went straight to Windows 10.
On the Android side, the PR term for Android Q is really just Android 10. Probably drove the Satanists at Google nuts when the Q posts started coming out. I can picture the marketing department having a meeting one day, "Umm, guys...we have a problem with the letter for the next Android version..."
