Theodore Geisel (Dr Suess) was involved in creating War propaganda for the US during WW II. Many of the morals found in his books are drawn from that experience. He knew what totalitarianism was and how to fight it.

I have a lot of his books, and loved to read them to my students.

of course, the communist principals hated DS because he wasn't part of their 'common core' curriculum..

I read Dr. Seuss tp my kids and they read all the books on their own when they could. Now they have children and lots of Dr.Seuss books too. They don't have "Heather has Two Mommies".
