It is truly awesome that a youngster is using a typewriter. My parents had one when I was a little kid (80s). No ribbon for it so we used it more as a toy. I got a pen pale when I was in 3rd grade. And his hand writing was trash, so he used a typewriter. I ended up doing extra chores for 2 months to get enough money to buy ribbon and paper. We sent typed messages to each other for 2 more years.
Using a typewriter is more personal than corresponding on the internet. Put these letters in a special place and will them to sender when you are gone.

I agree. Physical correspondence, especially on a manual typewriter, far outweighs the one unfortunate sentence contained within.
