To be fair, he only banned links... But I still think that may have been a bit premature. Yes he discovered some real shady stuff on GeorgeNews, but I think way more research needed to be done before an outright ban. However, he didn't ban any discussion only links. I'm just very torn on the whole thing. I see both sides.
I'm also currently in a discussion with some other people on another thread about if Evspra's name was compromised. Evspra announced that they were retiring and stepping down, but then came back full force after barely being gone. Seemed to do a lot of cool stuff and built up a lot of credit. Then this happened. The odd thing is, I always thought Evspra was a girl. Based on writing style, but other anons said they remember Evspra saying she was a girl.
But a week ago, I saw Evspra say in the comments that he was a guy. So now I'm super confused.... Did Evspra lie? Was Evspra's name compromised? What the heck is going on??? I'm really confused by the whole thing.
It keeps being brought up that "he only banned links" but discussion was ok--honest question, though: HOW do you have a thorough discussion about something w/o being able to look at the actual info being discussed? IMHO, that effectively "bans" any meaningful discussion/debate/analysis of GN, either pro or con. It seems a bit like saying it's fine to discuss a book as a group, but you aren't allowed to tell each other where to find a copy of the book itself.
That's a good point. I feel like it was all a huge overreaction and banning it was very premature. This could have been a board-wide research project to try to get to the bottom of this. The whole thing was so odd and I saw immature/childish behaviors on BOTH sides. I think everyone needed to chill out and we all should have worked together to try to discover the truth. I can't lie that what Evspra found is VERY suspect, but I still think more information was needed before a final decision was made.
