She was caught in a lie but I wonder if she has any remorse. She is charged with slander (oops you naughty girl, bad, no more lies that lead to beheadings). Her father is complicit with the murder. I’m glad they recognize it as a murder and not an accident.

What’s most upsetting to me is the way that this (and other related articles) emphasize that the issue is that he was beheaded for a lie... as if it would’ve been okay had it been truthful? How about we condemn the ideology that makes someone think this is okay? (And the girl/father too, obviously.)
What happened to him was wrong either way, but the lie part does change the character of the story from:
A guy who stood up for freedom of speech and was unjustly killed.
To:
A guy who was targeted for execution at random to promote the victimhood of a protected group.
The fact that it was over a lie also makes the radicals look even worse than they already do (if that's even possible). Because it seems like they just like killing, and whether their excuse is true or not doesn't matter. The killing of non-muslims (and in some cases, muslims of the wrong type) seems to be key to their ideology.
Most importantly, the lie part may not make us see the situation that differently as we already know what they are about (lots of stories about muslims lying about their neighbors in countries they control to get them killed off). However, for Liberals, what excuse could they give to justify this situation now. They can't say they guy should not have provoked them because he never did. The lie part may make this guy a martyr for the Liberals as well as the rest of us. It is unfortunate that the lie part is required for them to see the truth, but maybe it will open their eyes.
