Human beings are social beings that form groups. But a gang is a group that is engaging in violent or immoral activity in an organized way. It is simple and obvious, and I'm sure you know it, but your post is lumping church choir groups in with gangs. It reminds me of the postmodern liberal way of thinking. "I mean, aren't gangs just the same as any other group?"
I intentionally put "gang" in quotations. I was in no way trying to equate criminals with church choir groups or any assembly of decent people. But I did want to make the point that everyone has their own unique perspective on things and that the trio in the photo might feel that they have good reason to flout the laws. The laws are often not fairly enforced and are often used as a tool of oppression and extortion. In such an environment, it can be difficult to differentiate between good guys and bad guys.
