AI brain maps and deconstructive/reconstructive teleportation are both not avenues to immortality.
Both are simply creating clones of the original.
If you can exist alongside your AI brain map or someone can reconstruct a copy of you without having to deconstruct first, then it is a clone and not the original.
You conscience will not magically transfer over to your counterpart. You will die, cease, and the clone will be a new sentient being with a new separate agency from you.
If teleportation ever is developed, NEVER allow yourself to be teleported. Don't be surprised you wake up in the afterlife.
If wormhole teleportation is invented, then we'll talk. Until then, don't let yourself be disassembled.
As hilarious as having an army of NPC facsimiles of myself to leave to future generations would be, none of them would be remotely me. It's merely narcissism and arrogance that Alexey is playing towards.
This was the ending of the first Picard season. Spoiler alert—Picard dies at the end—for real—but they get a Data type body and transport Picard into that machine, and so he lives on as a Data-like create. I vowed never to watch any further episodes.
read this - i dont understand how making a copy of someone is bringing them back to life; isnt it just a new person that looks and acts like the dead one?
People have been talking about this for decades. One I remember was the RAMESES Method. You would preserve some DNA so your body could be reconstructed. The Method included a ton of questions that you would answer on videotape and save with the DNA sample. Also, you were to video yourself doing all the ordinary acts of life, such as combing your hair, etc. Supposedly there would be enough information in the answers and in the video to reconstruct you.
I have a printout of a proposal and some of the questions, but I never found any further info. You might find the site on Archive.

Yeah it’s definitely not really bringing someone back to life. Thought it was still relevant though.
Microsoft was also talking about turning their previous customers data into AI chat bot employees or something too I think.
Weird stuff. I’m against it.
