Loved David Bowie back in the day. Upon closer inspection he seemed to be into some dark stuff. His last album Blackstar was very odd. Heard he was into Aleister Crowley along with Led Zeppelin and many others. Crowley had the reputation as being the most evil man to have lived. So no surprises there.
watch that black star video. yikes.
Excellent article...
I saw this movie recently because I like Jennifer Connelly’s 80s-90s movies, and I ended up skimming it because it seemed demonic and abusive and I felt sad she got signed to this movie.
I love VC - been looking at his shit for a long time. However, I do believe he’s somewhat wrong here. The movie was directed by Jim Henson. He also wrote the story - and was raised as a Christian Scientist. Long story short about CS they started the mind over matter, they don’t believe in the devil as a person but as error in our thinking. It is demonic, but in the end she says - you have no power over me because error doesn’t have power over us, but isn’t it funny how we give it power? The entire movie she’s chasing David Bowie because she has given him power - and he continues to Attempt to seduce her into thinking she has no power.
Many of Jim Henson’s works is about how we have power over evil and how we get tricked into giving it away (dark crystal anyone) we don’t have to play the game because matter/error/devil whatever you want to call it - has no power over us.
Side note George Lucus was also involved in this movie, and he also taps into the idea that we have more power than we realize - power to do remarkable things - look at Star Wars
Stars Wars is a Masonic movie.
I don’t think this movie paints a picture of evil as an example of how it’s bad (though that could be the case), because of David Bowie’s occulticness and how creepy this movie is.
I’m the same way people argued Cuties just demonstrated how that’s bad as an example, instead of how it really is what it is a pedo movie.
I disagree - Joseph Campbell writes about how Star Wars really gives a modern myth to attaché to - the hero’s journey. The entire universe of good versus evil is a story that runs deeper than any religion or culture.
The movie isn’t about how evil is bad - it’s about how it doesn’t have power over you, how in a way it isn’t even real - hence the deep Christian Science overtones here.
In a nutshell Labyrinth is really about the scientific statement of being written by Mary Baker Eddy - the founder of Christian Science
There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.
Masonry is Luciferian (satanic). The main tenet being "Do what you want."
"The Force" is also a Masonic concept. Yoda is "little Yuda" one of their occult creatures.
They don't think they are evil either. They follow the God-rebel Lucifer on a path toward personal godhood.
Many are "altruists" looking out for the poor unenlightened sheep who beg for help because they are "oppressed". They see the ignorant masses as theirs to control. And if darwinism and depopulation to prune off the weaker cattle is their wish that is their pursuit.
"Masons believe in light. It is a priority part of their entire ritual. Now, light to a Mason symbolizes knowledge and also intellect. And...you know who the patron god of intellect is: it is Lucifer, and in fact his very name means the ferre or the Bearer of Light. "luc-" is Latin for light, and "-fer" for ferre." — 32nd degree Freemason of the Scottish Rite, William Morgan. The William Morgan Interview with Bill Cooper
