No sympathy for her. But the lawyer is also right. People who have never been there have no concept of food being so awful that it's used as punishment. And our prison system is not becoming of our democracy or of human dignity in general.

Indeed. A democratic constitutional republic. I don't want a direct democracy either. Wasted lots of time over the years educating people on why the electoral college is a good thing.
