I was a preteen when South Park came out
Everyone loved it. I was never able to get into it. I knew the base jokes. Killing Kenny, the chocolate balls, etc. I watched the Christmas episode and rented some of the VHS best ofs. It's not my thing, still isn't. I think seasons 1-2 of Family Guy, first 4 seasons of Futurama, and "golden age" Simpsons are the height of modern American comedy animation.
I'd buy the "shitting on everyone" idea if they reamed Biden on voter fraud and called Fauci on his BS. As it stands, I think they take very calculated jabs at the left but nothing that will redpill someone who tunes into Comedy Central for Sarah Silverman specials.
My problem with it even early on was that it was too topical. Many of the older episodes have not aged well as they rely on you knowing what news topic they're mocking and some of them I don't even remember or caught the first time around and I was telling people oftentimes that unlike classic Simpsons and such their grandkids will look back at a lot of South Park and wonder what the heck these characters are even talking about.
