Considering the subject matter here, a prayer thread seems like it would be a natural (and probably necessary) extension. We’re only talking about occasional threads that anyone can choose to not open. It’s not my thing, but prayer is quite Q related. It hasn’t become out of hand here. I would think that actually banning prayer threads of all things would run contrary to the message and spirit of Q.
The Articles of Confederation (the original constitution) left all religious manners to the states, so it didn't mention religion at all. Some of the states' original colonial charters were religious, others were not.
TBH, back then, there wasn't much Christian unity and very different perspectives on religious worship between say, the Puritans, Baptists, Presbyterians, Calvinists, Catholics, etc.
Many had fled Europe due to religious persecution from other Christians. The more recent constitution (from 1789 till now) gave us freedom of religion and association in the bill of rights to protect us from the government.
We have a prayer board. Its in the WIN family.
Sure, people can pray. Just not here, right?
Fine. But we don't need 20 of them per day. High quality, high effort, or they'll be taken out wit the rest of the trash.
So what is the limit? 10? 12?
Why not let the community decide with their votes? Genuine question, not coming at you all hostile.
The limit is quality. Remember three years months ago? We weren't removing any of them and this wasn't an issue. Then the effort level went to shit. And here we are, having this discussion.
But isn't quality subjective?
Is it basically, "if you copy and pasted this from a religious website it will get removed"?
Just trying to figure out what your standard for quality is.
edit: For example, now we have a pinned post that is a repost from like 2-3 days ago...
