Dear Kaneland Staff and Families: As you know, the Kaneland staff have the opportunity to receive their second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday through Thursday this week. The second dose is affecting many of our staff members with a variety of side effects. We have approximately 125 teachers and support staff members that have called in sick today. Unfortunately, there are not enough substitutes to cover the absences of our staff.
Therefore, there will be NO SCHOOL today, Thursday, March 11, 2021 for any Kaneland student. This day will be considered an emergency day and one makeup day will be added to the end of the school year. The last day of the 2020-2021 school year will be announced after spring break.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Kaneland District Administration
FYI according to the CDC the Moderna COVID-19 clinical trail had less than 15,500 people participating in it. Based on the study that ran for around 4 months they recommended to the FDA that the vaccine should be approved for emergency use. The FDA approved it for emergency use based on NO FDA study only what the drug manufacture told them. This goes for all the COVID vaccines. This is like letting an airline manufacture tell the NTSB and FAA that they tested the plane and it's totally safe and they should start using it ASAP.
