Keep in mind, this is the same guy who pulled his mother out of an old folks home, in Pennsylvania, as he continued to direct putting sick people into those places.

So he's not only mentally ill, he's also plain evil. But he apparently cares about his own mother, just not about other people's mothers or fathers.
