So I'll admit I am absolutely lost with this deep fake stuff. I understand the very basics of it, but are we stating that Tom Cruise is dead? How long has he been dead if that's th case? MI and Top Gun? It's been a hell of a year and while I follow.some.of it all, some is over my head.

I’m not really seeing this one. The date on the right is the date where the article came out from that specific site. Not the day that video was posted. It even says the video went viral in February.

That's the biggest hurdle if someone wanted to make a convincing fake. Once the model is trained it takes far less processing to use, but copying someone's voice is a completely separate process. Then you need the venue to appear legitimate.
Any convincing deepfake will still be a Hollywood level production.
