That might be off the wall. The idea popped into my head and the only way to get it out is to ask.

Possibly, but it’s been my experience that when there’s a lot of buzz about dogs there’s things happening. It happened with GW Bush & then Comey. It’s just awfully strange that there have been numerous dog comms in the past 3 or so days.
I'm a systems engineer specializing in test and measurement. I'm schooled in information/communication theory and cryptography.
I don't what to get too technical but if an event (e.g. dog mentioned in tweet) is always true, that event can not carry any encoded information. That event's entropy is zero. Any major situation dealing with a person's pets, such as getting a new dog, loosing a dog, etc. will most likely be mentioned on any social media that person is active on. In other words that event will have zero entropy, no information encoded by human agency.
If Lin Woods post regarding Rascal is significant, the significance is her showing up in his front yard, e.g. no human agency. If there is no human agency, that reduces the significance to an omen. Humans don't communicate via omens.
On the other hand, posting an obviously set up photo of ones puppies, could carry information. It has positive entropy. An example would be that photo of the three puppies siting in the tires painted white, red, and blue, set in the snow. That could be encoded with information other than being a really cute picture.
One thing to keep in mind is that the human mind is designed to see patterns, even if they don't really exist. That is why information theory was developed. And remember, 'No Outside Comms'. The only outside comms will be what we already should be aware of, e.g. things are happening, hold the line.
Point well taken.
